To get there you’ll have to book a ticket to Athens first. Arriving at the Greek capital you will need to make another, this time internal, flight to Samos which takes one hour including take-off and landing. By the way, it’s a pleasure to look out of the window when flying over the sea and other Greek islands. On the arrival to Samos airport you’ll have to get a map immediately. You can get it for free at the information board. Also, you can buy more appropriate map for 1,2 euro.
The average temperature there varies from +30 to + 35 C°. It is really hot in the sun but the island is constantly blown by warm winds so it’s quite easily to breathe there. In addition, if you try to stick to shadowy places, you’ll have no problem with acclimatization.
If you haven’t chosen where to stop, there is a number of nice places to recommend. A small town Pifogorio and a cozy village Kokkari are amazing destinations. But if you’re looking for a place from where it’s convenient to do hiking, then look no further than a mountain village Manolatos.
If you’re going to the Samos Island for sightseeing, then it’s necessary to rent a car. In fact, renting a car is one of the inevitable expenses. There is no point in tripping to Samos, if you’re not planning to rent a car. As for the taxi, it is paying only if you’re taking it once. It will cost you about 35 euros.
All in all, with gorgeous pebble beaches, fabulous sunsets and jaw-dropping landscapes, Samos is sure to engrave on your memory for long.
