Argentina is an exotic country that is famous for not only the traditional dance tango, steaks, Evita Perón, Diego Maradona, Tierra del Fuego, Jorge Luis Borges, but also for gauchos, horsemen and cowhands of the South American pampas that have become an inseparable, enduring image of the country.

The word ‘gaucho’ fist appeared in 1790 meaning “orphan” or “vagabond” and described a tough individual traveling alone in the pampas. Gauchos of Argentina flourished from the mid-eighteenth to the mid-nineteenth century and today remain popular folk heroes.

The traditional outfit of an Argentina gaucho is the following: a wide brimmed hat, woolen poncho or neck scarf, baggy trousers called bombachas, and knee high leather boots. They also usually carry a facon, a long sharp knife and a boleadora, strips of leather containing stones and used as a lariat.

Outfit of Argentina gaucho

Argentina Gauchos have been always renowned for being excellent horsemen. Their roping and riding skills are considered the best anywhere in the world.

Not only are gauchos skilful horsemen, but they are also great dancers. Gauchos of Argentina are well-known for their native male dance malambo that is performed without any music and based entirely on rhythm. The malambo dancer is a master of tap dancing wearing gaucho’s boots and using boleodoras.

On the whole, gauchos have a great impact on cultural life of Argentina. And if you are planning on visiting this marvelous country, you should definitely see an Argentina gaucho in the flesh by visiting an Argentina gaucho festival held annually on November 10th in San Antonio de Areco. At this festival you will have a unique opportunity to experience traditional gaucho dances and songs, as well as horseback riding, hayrides and taste Argentine barbecue (”asado criollo” – grilled in an open fire meat) and wine.

Many experienced travelers consider Costa Rica one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It’s hard to dispute. Mountain chains are covered with thick forests, turquoise lakes, picturesque volcanoes, beaches with silver sand, noisy shattering waterfalls, sleepy villages and coffee plantations – when visiting Costa Rica you can feel at full the magic and tremendous energy of the nature!

Costa Rica is an ideal destination for eco-tourism, romantic tours and spa trips. However many travelers who prefer sumptuous vacations complain there are no luxurious hotels like Sandals in Costa Rica. But primarily this beautiful land boasts with national parks, Canopy tours (sliding on ropes on top of trees), walks on suspension bridges, riding, bike tours, rafting, kayaking, surfing and windsurfing, diving, visiting Indian villages, “coffee” routes and one-day tours to the Island of Tortuga with white sandy beaches, folklore performances, cave tours and so on. So as for the absence of Sandals in Costa Rica, it’s not a big loss.

Costa Rica

What is nice about Costa Rica is that eco-tourism can be combined with the rest on one of the endless beaches of this magnificent land. The colour of sand of Costa Rica varies from white and gold to chocolate and black tint.

So if you’ve decided to visit Costa Rica once and for all, mind the climate peculiarities. It’s tropical and subtropical. The dry season lasts from December to April, rainy – from May to November. The temperatures are usually high but in mountainous areas they can drop to 0 º C. So when packing your luggage, think of light cotton clothing. For walks in mountains don’t forget to bring light coat or sweater.

The national currency in Costa Rica is colon but you can easily use US dollars. What is more, most hotels, restaurant and shops accept major international credit cards. You can exchange money at hotels, banks and airports. Remember that other currency exchange offices are illegal.

So mind all the recommendations and come to Costa Rica as this is an extremely beautiful and enchanting country.

Cuba is the place where all day and night long you can hear marimba sounds while beautiful women dance sensual rumba. Everywhere there is the smell of sea and rum. Visiting Cuba may seem quite easy as it’s amazing wherever you go. However, there are few particular places that you just can’t miss.

One of such places is Varadero. Cuba is considered to be the pearl of the Caribbean islands. Cuba has many faces and far not everyone can see its real face. But if you really want it, you should go to Varadero. The best option will be to try different travel agencies and buy one of the most inexpensive tours to this city. Primarily, Varadero is known for its beaches where the sand is incredibly gentle and seems to be completely white. Today the peninsula where the city is situated is increasingly built up with hotels and entertainment centers where you can feel absolutely safe because of the police patrol working here round-the-clock.

El Nicho Falls Cuba

Still, the most Caribbean city of Cuba is believed to be Santiago. On the road to this city you’ll enjoy 1000 kilometers of the unique Cuban landscape, sugarcane fields along the road and small provinces that take you to the unseen world of Cuba.

The city of Santiago seems to be quite small and it really is with the population of somewhat 300,000 residents. Here you should head straight to the local beach of Siboney to hear the music of local musicians and taste mojitos. Another place for visit is the Las Americas Square not far from the 5-star hotel “Santiago”. Especially it refers to the Italian pizzeria located on the hotel terrace. Heat and rum do their part – in Santiago you’ll be stalked by the feeling of endless holidays and fun.

If Santiago is the city of fun and energy, then Trinidad is the city of the living legends. This wonderful stone city is one of the world’s renowned landmarks strictly protected by UNESCO. For cultural pastime Trinidad is the best option.

A lot has been said about Cuba. So there is no point in praising it. Just come here and find Cuba of your own!

Despite the scary stories about the frosty and unfriendly Russian capital, more and more tourists from all over the world flock to Moscow year by year. And there is nothing unusual about it as this city does have something attracting. It has been and still remains one of the most influential and important cities in the world. It’s a major cultural, historic, architectural, scientific and business center. It’s the city of contrasts and unexpected discoveries. That is why visiting Moscow should be one of the most unforgettable experiences in your life.

To start with, Moscow is the most populated European city. It is also notoriously known for being expensive for foreigners. But if you’ve decided to come here, it shouldn’t stop you as it doesn’t stops hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting Moscow every year.

The State Historical Museum Resurrection Gate Moscow

Like in any other city of the world visiting Moscow demands having a travel visa. It can be easily arranged in Russian Consulate located in your city. To get the visa all you have to do is to provide visa support papers and such information as: passport number, full name, nationality, date of birth and dates of stay in Russia. If you address to any reputable travel agency, it’ll do for you without any problems.

What is more, addressing to travel agencies you can arrange your stay as they have a multitude of tours including short and long terms, luxury and budget ones. You can even conclude your own route! The same is for hotels. You just tell a travel agency about your preferences. If you hesitate, it’s not a problem as there is a huge number of decent offers.

Also if you just have read about Moscow but still have no idea where to start, look at on-line galleries devoted to the Russian capital. The nicest thing about its tourist attractions is that almost all of them are situated within minutes from each other. The Kremlin, the Red Square, beautiful Basi’s Cathedral and the magnificent Boloshi Theatre are among the most popular tourist spots.

Surely, reading forums and on-line travel tips about visiting Moscow you can get the feeling that coming there is not a good idea. But in fact Moscow is just like any other major city in the world with its dark sides and indisputable amenities. Still don’t believe? So why are you reading this?

A growing tendency is observed lately in a travelling industry. More and more people prefer travelling with their pets. More and more feathered and furry friends are taken on a vacation. Dog or cat, bird or lizard – all of them now have a chance to admire picturesque views and seaside sites.

However, travelling with pets doesn’t mean you have to buy a special bag and pet food month supplies. There is a whole list of procedures and arrangements to be taken.

First of all, you should think of taking your pet to the vet. It is important to check your pet’s health before taking it on a trip. Also, the pet may need specific vaccinations depending on the area you travel to. What is more, the vet can give you a print copy of your pet’s medical history. So in case your animal friend gets sick, you will have everything to help him/her as soon as possible.

Travelling with Pets

Remember that animals are just like us. And there may be situations when they may need first aid. Especially, when you take your pet, for example a dog in camping grounds or forests. Be sure you take a first aid kit which includes antiseptic cream to prevent from bacteria, bandages, cotton wool, blanket to keep a dog warm, tweezers for extracting ticks or prickles, vinegar to soothe pain from stings and so on.

If you’re travelling with your pet in more civilized area, then think of destinations that are pet-friendly. There are lots of dog or cat’s hotels with full list of services. But if you’re not planning to leave your beloved pet alone, then make a call to the final destination beforehand to get insured they can receive your pet. Also, don’t forget about identification document and vaccination card of your pet.

To finish, you should respect rules of the destination you travel to. It means that your pet should behave politely. Remember that we all love our animal friends and tolerate with their pranks. But it doesn’t mean that other people will be that indulgent. So be adequate.

What’s your dream vacation? Someone likes slowly basking in the sun. Someone prefers dancing their feet away in night clubs. It doesn’t matter what your dream summer looks like as there is a huge selection of excellent summer getaways to choose from.

Bangkok is definitely the place to be for those who reckon vacations should include some expensive pleasures. In The Eugenia hotel you can choose one of the only 10 sophisticated rooms. More romanticism is added by the elegance of the building constructed in the colonial period.

Meanwhile in Costa Rica many hotels are hidden from busy life high in the volcanic mountains so that nobody could spoil your summer vacation. There you can enjoy mountain views, orchid gardens and tropic plants. One of such mountain refuges is called Inn. It’s situated in Coyote Mountain. Quite an intriguing place to check out!

Santa Cruz in Florida is fairly considered one of the best summer getaways in the whole world. It’s a perfect place to spend the hottest season in as its endless beaches and pure waters will definitely chill you out! Ocean view is best to enjoy from the high-rate hotel rooms where bed and breakfast service won’t leave you indifferent. Don’t wanna stay in a room? Then go to one of the numerous romantic seaside restaurants or visit a downtown jazz club.

Somewhere at the very boundary of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean there is a heavenly destination to be. It’s the Virgin Islands. The air here is filled with romance and peacefulness. In the Katitche Point Greathouse hotel you can stay in one of only 4 rooms. But it’s about quality not quantity. Large balconies and hammocks are just what you need to spend your summer in.

Summer getaway

For some exotic flavor head straight to Marrakesh! There in the Riad Meriem hotel you’ll find a perfect shelter from summer fever in a chilly pool and terrace decorated with blooming jasmine flowers.

Maybe the above mentioned destinations are not spots everybody is aware of. But they are ideal as summer getaways. Don’t you agree?

Winter is already ringing all the bells and you’re still working in the office. Is it unjust? Yes! Who’s to blame? You! If you’re dreaming of snow and steep hills for a while, then read the article and choose the best variant as I’m going to focus on the main winter getaways attracting snow-lovers from the whole world.

The small town of Innsbruck in Austria does have something to offer for skiing-addicts. The thing is the Olympic Games were held in this area twice. And perfectly equipped slopes are heritage and reminder of the major sports events. Exactly in Innsbruck you’ll find the trace for professionals. However if you don’t feel like skiing it’s just fun to watch snowboarders flying up as the well-known ski jump is situated here as well. Meanwhile, another Austrian ski resort, Lech is the resort where the celebrities from all over the world flock to. Snow cover is perfect for skiing all year round whereas high level service has brought Lech the reputation as one of the best winter getaway resorts in the world.

However, if nature doesn’t appeal to you and you don’t want to leave a big noisy city, then head straight to Stockholm, Sweden where in the landscape park Hammarby Backen skiers and snowboarders can slide down the slopes till the 10 pm admiring the city’s evening lights. The view is so fantastic that many Swedes leave their skis home and come here just to enjoy the landscape.

Winter gataways

Not far from Stockholm, in another Scandinavian capital, Oslo in the Tryvann Vinterpark you’ll find 14 slopes, 7 ski lifts and beautiful landscape park that can compete with any resort in the Alps. It will take you only 30 minutes to get to Tryvann by subway. Moreover, thanks to the local climate and modern technologies the skiing season lasts here from November to April. To distract from snow you can pay a visit to the Kon-Tiki Museum where you’ll know more about legendary traveler, writer and scientist Thor Heyerdahl. You can entirely plunge into exciting winter sports without leaving Finland. Lahti is also a well-known ski town. Here you just have to check Messilä, the biggest and highest skiing area in the southern Finland.

Meanwhile, Eastern Europe also has something to boast. Just 15 minutes from the Ljubljana airport (Slovenia), you’ll find a skiing resort. It’s the single world’s example when the skiing resort is situated so close to the capital. In case you don’t ski, visit medieval Ljubljana Castle towering above the capital and Igloo Village where all the houses are made from snow. Not far from Ljubljana, namely in Saraevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) there is another Olympic Games heritage – skiing resort Bjelašnica where almost vertical slopes are equipped with six ski lifts. To give your muscles some rest you can make a relaxing stroll in the old city where mosques and oriental-stylized shops remind of the unique atmosphere of the Middle East rather than of Eastern Europe.

However, if Europe is too predictable and traditional for you, try winter sports in Sapporo, Japan. There are 5 skiing areas not far from Hokkaido and the biggest of them – Teine Highland is a vertical slope of 450 m. It was designed in 1972 for the Olympic Winter Games. Apart from skiing, there is a festival of ice sculptures held every year in February.

Of course, it’s not the whole list of winter getaways. Compiling of full list would take ages as our planet is generous in terms of the various nature landscapes. Still, I hope that this article will help you to define where to go!
